For couples who have just a few days to enjoy the long-awaited honeymoon trip and are looking for a romantic beach destination in Brazil, we have to recommend the charming Paraty.
A charming colonial town in Rio de Janeiro, surrounded by the lush Atlantic Forest and a crystalline emerald green sea, which create an indescribable setting.
The delicious tropical climate of Paraty and the intimate retreats, give light to a super romantic atmosphere, for an unforgettable honeymoon trip.
It is an excellent travel option for those who reside in São Paulo or Rio de Janeiro, as the arrival by car is smooth, as the road bordering the sea is an omen of the wonderful surprise to be found.
The charming Paraty exudes pure Brazilian colonial history. Its original streets, covered with irregular stones, bear witness to times gone by, with an intoxicating sequence of white facades with doors and windows colored in a yellow, red, green and turquoise watercolor.
Considered a National Historic Landmark, the city of Paraty still preserves its natural and architectural charms from the 18th and 19th centuries. Paraty is known for its beauty – in its area are the Serra da Bocaina National Park, the Environmental Protection Area Cairuçú.
The city was founded in 1667 around the Church of Nossa Senhora dos Remédios, its patron saint. Its charming and preserved historic center is considered by UNESCO as the “most harmonious colonial architectural ensemble” in Brazil and considered a National Heritage listed by IPHAN.
The buildings of its mansions and churches reflect a style of the period and the Masonic symbols that adorn its walls take us on a journey through time.
Its streets are protected by chains that prevent the passage of cars, preserving even more the colonial charm. The city center is full of attractions for shopping, accommodation, art galleries, restaurants and a lot of culture with the busy events and festivals that have already become part of Paraty’s life.
FLIP (Paraty International Literary Festival) is the most anticipated and famous of them. But it is always good to keep an eye on the city’s calendar, which still receives the Foco (International Photography Festival) in September; the Bourbon
(International Jazz Festival), in May; the Mimo – in October; the sacred Feast of the Divine, between May and June; and, in February, a traditional carnival.
Its paradisiacal beaches and islands are far away and the best way to visit them is by boat or car. The highlights are: Praia Vermelha, Ilha Comprida, Praia da Lula, Ilha do Pelado, Praia Grande de Cajaíba, Saco do Mamanguá, Pouso da Cajaíba Beach, Martim de Sá, Ponta Negra, Antigos and Antiguinhos, Ilha do Araújo, Ilha dos Meros, Prainha, Jabaquara, São Gonçalo, Barra do Corumbê, Batanguera and many others.
